|It looks like Facebook also considers shift towards ARM-based servers.
A recent post on Hip Hop Virtual Machine (HHVM) blog indicates that the team works on implementing ARM support. HHVM is a Facebook’s PHP engine that turns scripts into 64-bit x86 instructions.
Back in 2013 Facebook system engineer Amir Michael said that shifting to non-x86 chips for Facebook “It’s not a question of if; it’s a question of when”. So it looks like the time is finally coming considering Google intentions to also shift to ARM-based servers.
